Parker Collins, Lowcountry Artist

Parker is a lowcountry artist with an eye for skewed perspectives, cartooning, and whimsical renderings. Playful and fun-loving, her art reflects a childlike heart and an eye for the unexpected. Her childhood was filled with artistic pursuits, taking art classes with her mother, getting admonished in school for drawing when she should be studying, and going to art galleries and reading fine arts magazines with her aunt. She attended the Bob Lane School of Art in Decatur, Georgia and multiple art therapy workshops designed to teach her how to better assist artists with disabilities.

She laid her brush down for a number of years when the drudgery and details of life took center stage and pushed her art to the wings until she recently came to the startling realization that she didn’t have to choose! Feeling inspired, she is rekindling her relationship with her creativity. She sees art in everything around her, from industrial machinery, rickety old buildings, and vintage signs to dogs with underbites, hanging moss, and the people of the lowcountry. Southern to the core, she is constantly inspired by living in Savannah, whereupon moving she declared “I feel like I’m living in a postcard. Everywhere I look I see art.” In addition to pursuing her own personal growth as an artist, one of her ultimate goals is to create a support network to provide a platform for exhibiting and marketing the art of artists with disabilities.

Dedicated to pursuing her path, Parker spends her time creating in a custom-designed, home art studio and working with wood at RePurpose Savannah.
